Precambrian Time
-Earth Formed
-Arthropods
-The First Mass Extinction
- Earth just started off as dust, ice, and rock, but then gravity brought all these objects together creating Earth.
- At first, Earth was to hot for water, but when it cooled down it rained for a very long time. This created an ocean, which absorbed much of the carbon dioxide.
- Prokaryotic cells were one of the first cells on Earth. These types of cells don't have a nucleus (a nucleus is like the brain of a cell). For around a billion years these were the only cells on Earth.
- Eukaryotic cells were evolved from prokaryotic cells. Eukaryotic cells have a nucleus, unlike prokaryotic cells. These cells evolved into small, simple animals such as jellyfish and worms.
- Jellyfish live in cold or warm ocean water. They sting with their tentacles. Worms lived in oceans as well as all living things at this time. Jellyfish and worms are made up of cells, like all living things are.
-Arthropods
- Arthropods are insects, spiders, lobsters, and crabs. These animals evolved from worms. Some of these animals stayed in the ocean while others went on land.
- Earth is continuously recycling aged crust and then placing it in another spot.
-The First Mass Extinction
- Many living things died during an Ice Age. An Ice Age is when sheets of ice cover all of the land.
- Nicknamed: The Time of Ancient Life. Meaning of Nickname: A few important living things are formed, such as prokaryotic cells, eukaryotic cells, jellyfish, worms, and arthropods. Non-living things are formed such as Earth, oceans, and rocks.
